Hello readers, it’s been week and a half since I last posted and a few weeks more since I last updated you all about my adventures. As the title of this post suggests, I had "spring break" for a week between my internship and my semester. Back home in the US, my classmates were looking forward to a week off after the stress of midterms. For me though, this spring break marked the biggest transition during my semester abroad.

| last day in Kiel: sunshine, parks, and pancakes |
Anyway, after finishing my internship in Kiel, I spent one more day packing up, tying up loose ends in Kiel, and enjoying the sunshine. I headed to Nuremburg to meet up with a friend and then we both headed to Prague for a few days. After Prague, I got to go ‘home’ for a quick visit to my host family’s from 3 years ago. It was wonderful to be back in Oberbayern for a bit and to see friends again.
And then it was finally time for my semester abroad to start (sort of. actual semester begin is April 24th). I met up with the other Colgate students and the professor leading out study group and we all spent the week getting to know the city of Freiburg and starting our 2 Colgate classes. It was definitely a change of pace for me, but it is nice to see Colgate friends again and Freiburg seems pretty nice.

After a little under a week, it was time to say goodbye to Freiburg for the next 3.5 weeks and start our Bildungsreise through German-speaking Europe. I’m currently on the train between cities 2 and 3 and luckily am not too sick of traveling or packing everything in a suitcase quite yet.
1st Stop: Zurich: pretty city, first time in Switzerland, quite expensive, the Landesmuseum is cool.
2nd Stop: Munich: this was at least my 11th time in Munich, but I still managed to see and quite a few new things. And as for the things that were repeats- they brought back lots of fun memories.
Next Stop: Vienna!
With the Colgate courses, I have a new focus on improving my German- focusing on word articles and incorporating new vocab into my everyday language. Despite this I feel as though my German is getting worse. The temptation to speak English with other native English speakers is strong and I’m spending a lot less time around other native-German speakers. Hopefully both of these things will improve once classes start in April.
For now though, greetings from a train somewhere in Austria!
